Who We Are

The Writers Guild Foundation?s mission is to preserve and promote excellence in writing and to advance the recognition of the writer?s unique contribution to the art of film and television.

The Foundation?s programs focus on two primary areas: historical preservation and education, and the Foundation works closely with the Writers Guild of America to provide a number of services and programs to both working writers and the public.

The Foundation has developed a broad range of initiatives designed to:

Through its programs the Foundation has helped elevate the status of writers in the community. It is encouraging the academic and student communities to take writing for the screen seriously as an art form and is providing educational opportunities for writers, college students and school children both in Los Angeles and nationally. It is building a significant archive of scripts, books and other materials as a historical resource for future generations.
