Pitch Night is an annual career development event marking the end of each cycle of WGF’s Veterans Writing Project.
Guests are more than welcome to submit a script or meeting request if they resonate with a writer’s pitch, but this is not expected or required.
Ultimately, our goal is to provide our graduates with hands-on practice pitching to industry professionals and insight into the business of writing for the screen.
-
Guests will hear pitches from the 2025-26 Veterans Writing Project’s graduating class. Due to the size of the cohort, writers will be divided into breakout rooms based on their project’s format and genre. Guests will be matched with writers who most closely align with their interests.
Our guest list includes showrunners, producers, managers, agents, development executives, and more.
Volunteers and program mentors, all of whom are WGA members, will be present in your breakout room as well. A room leader will be assigned to keep your group on track.

BEFORE THE EVENT
After you RSVP, WGF will match you with program graduates pitching projects aligned with your interests. In the days leading up to the event, you will receive an email reminder that includes the Zoom meeting link, the event program, and a takeaway sheet with information about the veterans' projects.
You’re welcome to review the event program in advance, or simply arrive at Pitch Night with fresh eyes. No reading or preparation is required.
DURING THE EVENT
We ask that guests log in to the Zoom call between 6:55 and 7:00 PM on March 11th. The evening will begin with a brief introduction, after which attendees will be divided into breakout groups.
In your room, you will be joined by 2-3 other industry professionals. After a quick round of introductions, the Veterans Writing Project graduates will begin their pitches.
Throughout the evening, you’ll hear 6-8 pitches, each lasting no more than 5 minutes. After each pitch, you and your fellow guests will have 4-5 minutes to offer feedback and ask questions.
Breakout room leaders will be available to facilitate the conversation and, time permitting, will also lead a brief Q&A session with you and the other guests in your room.
AFTER THE EVENT
All guests will receive a follow-up email with the takeaway sheet attached. If you'd like to connect with one of the program graduates, our team would be happy to facilitate an introduction.
Please note that WGF will not share your contact information with event attendees unless you specifically request we do so. Your privacy is a top priority for us!
