Often, writers will produce web series or short videos in order to get noticed by producers and showrunners, then get a job on the writing staff of a TV show.

Amy Berg did the opposite. After a long career as a writer of shows like PERSON OF INTEREST, LEVERAGE, EUREKA and THE 4400, she pitched her own series, CAPER, to Felicia Day’s Geek and Sundrymultimedia production company. It’s now up to nine episodes and counting, with hundreds of thousands of views.

She’s also written for DA VINCI’S DEMONS and has a pilot in the works at BBC Worldwide.

It’s not surprising, considering Amy has put in the time and effort to build her brand as a writer, with over 19,000 Twitter followers and a bevy of appearances at writing conferences and fan conventions.

(Oh, and by the way – this isn’t the Amy Berg who directed WEST OF MEMPHIS.)
