As creatives, navigating the business side of the entertainment industry can be daunting, which is why brushing up on Entertainment Law 101 is always a great idea. Attorney Luke Lieberman is back to give a survey of intellectual property, personal/publicity rights, and relevant contract law–consider it an overview for writers, directors, actors, and producers on the how to protect their work, avoid common pitfalls in the industry and manage their representatives.
Luke is a graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts and also holds a JD from Loyola Law School. He is currently an associate at Rosenfeld, Meyer, and Susman and has represented companies such as Miramax, The Weinstein Company, Cross Creek Pictures, and EndemolShine, as well as individual writers, actors, directors and producers. He has also fought for his client’s rights in court at trial. Luke concurrently serves as president of Red Sonja, LLC, licensor of the Red Sonja character, has written over 60 comic books, and is currently developing new intellectual property with comic book legend Stan Lee.
With experience as both a creator and a lawyer, Luke provides a unique perspective on the industry, providing invaluable information for established and up and coming filmmakers alike.
