 If you loved our November Pitch Perfect event, you'll want to attend this 4-week interactive deep dive into sharpening your personal and project pitches!

Every Tuesday in June, The Writers Guild Foundation and The Riveter will be hosting workshops featuring film and TV writers, producers, and entertainment executives that focus on all the elements of pitching, from crafting your personal story and shaping your film or TV pitch to working the room at a networking event or meeting.

 All workshops are from 7:00pm-9:00pm at The Riveter West LA  and will be lead by industry experts. 

Academy Schedule: 

  • June 4:  The Personal Pitch - Learn how to craft your personal story and how to pitch yourself as a writer to hire. Speaker: Karen Kirkland (Creative Strategist and Founder of The Breakk) 

  • June 11:  The Project Pitch - This workshop covers loglines, pitch outlines, techniques and materials to help you nail that project-specific pitch. Speakers TKD

  • June 18:  Networking and Branding - This will cover topics such as pitching etiquette, how to land a meeting, and leveraging social media and opportunities that could help your writing career. Speakers: Matt Dy (Manager, Lit Entertainment Group), Javier Grillo-Marxuach (Writer/Producer, The 100, The Middleman, Lost), and Kristi Shuton (Manager, Disney ABC Writing and Directing Programs).

  • June 25:  The Room - You've got the meeting. Now what? We'll go over what to expect at a general meeting or writing program interview and give you an opportunity to practice what you've learned over the last 4 weeks. Speaker: Larry Andries (Writer/Producer, Godfather of Harlem, Being Mary Jane, Six Feet Under).
