Inside the Writers Zoom with ABBOTT ELEMENTARY

Inside the Writers Room/Zoom is our ongoing event series where we gather the writers room of a TV series to learn how their room runs, from how they plan each season and break story to their individual experiences cracking episodes.

For this session, we welcome the writers room of ABC’s new mockumentary comedy, Abbott Elementary. Creator, executive producer, and star Quinta Brunson shares her inspiration for the show and her character, the idealistic rookie second grade teacher Janine. Learn how the writers approach character development, how they pitch jokes in the room, and their process for crafting funny yet nuanced stories around the teachers and students of a struggling Philadelphia elementary school.
