EVENT CANCELED - Healing Narratives: Writing Trauma-Informed Stories for the Screen

In light of the WGA strike and in solidarity with the WGA, we are postponing this panel to a later date. Once a rescheduled date has been confirmed, we will post it on our Events page. Thank you.

The Writers Guild Foundation, in partnership with Storyline Partners and me too., host a virtual discussion on crafting trauma-informed stories for film and TV. Our panel of writers share their approaches to developing storylines and characters that explore sensitive topics such as sexual assault and abuse, their research process, and how they foster a safe space in their writers’ room. Experts will also weigh in on practices to help storytellers craft narratives that authentically address the impacts of trauma on individuals.

Panelists:

  • Denise Beek - Chief Communications Officer, me too

  • Steven Canals - Co-Creator, Writer and Executive Producer, Pose

  • Susannah Grant - Co-Creator, Writer and Executive Producer, Unbelievable

  • Liz Heldens - Co-Creator, Writer and Executive Producer, Will Trent

Moderated by Nikita Mitchell, Chief Strategy Officer, me too
