Mentors play an integral role in WGF’s mission to promote the craft of screenwriting and build sustainable pathways for emerging writers to achieve their creative and professional goals.

WGA members can engage in a variety of experiences, including but not limited to:
Serving as an admissions committee member, guest speaker, or mentor with the Writers’ Access Support Staff Training Program
Assisting with application reviews or mentoring with the Veterans Writing Project
Participating in a guest lecture or mock writers’ room with the Veterans Fellowship
Speaking to K-12, college, or university students through the Visiting Writers Project
Partnering with likeminded nonprofits and community groups serving writers of all levels through the Volunteer & Mentorship Program

The overall time commitment for mentors varies by opportunity. We offer everything from one-off speaking engagements and short-term mentorship to curated long-term mentorship.
