The 2nd Annual WGF Veterans Day Laugh-In: A Comedy Benefit Show

Join us at Dynasty Typewriter for a hilarious evening celebrating comedy, service, and the WGF’s Veterans Writing Project!

Expect a silent auction, special appearances, and of course, great comedy from stand-ups and alumni of the program. All proceeds benefit the Veterans Writing Project.

Our lineup* includes:

Doors open at 6:30pm. Show starts at 7:30pm.

ABOUT THE GUEST PERFORMERS

Adam Conover Headshot

Adam Conover is an investigative comedian exploring the weirdest and wildest reaches of human knowledge. He is the creator and star of the hit show, ADAM RUINS EVERYTHING, which went  three seasons on TruTv. The educational comedy shines a light on popular false impressions and trends.  The New York Times calls it “one of history’s most entertaining shows dedicated to the art of debunking” and refers to Adam as a “genial provocateur”. He recently wrapped his comedy tour of Adam Ruins Everything Presents: Mind Parasite LIVE with Adam Conover. He also hosted the new game show, THE CRYSTAL MAZE for Nickelodeon. Adam and his production company just wrapped a new informational docuseries with President Barack Obama’s Higher Ground for Netflix called THE G WORD, based on Michael Lewis’ best selling book, The Fifth Risk.  

Additionally, Adam recurred on the Netflix animated series BOJACK HORSEMAN and was a regular panelist on VH1’s BEST WEEK EVER.  A writer and performer for CollegeHumor Originals, Adam also wrote for VH1’s STEVIE TV and wrote and starred in the film festival darling THE EXQUISITE CORPSE PROJECTt. He is a founding member of the sketch group Olde English, who performed at HBO’s Comedy Fest in Aspen and was named “Best Sketch Group on the Web” by Cracked.com. As a standup comedian, Adam can be seen regularly in the top New York and Los Angeles comedy clubs.   

 
Grace Freud Headshot

Grace Freud is a writer based in LA who has written on shows like Rick and Morty, The Eric Andre Show and Beavis and Butthead. Grace has toured around North America with her comedy duo Girl God and has previously written for The Onion, ClickHole, Funny or Die and many other popular online comedy sites. Alongside her comedy partner April Clark, she was selected as one of 2023's best comedians by the New York Times. And in the midst of all that she somehow was able to fit in both a marriage and a divorce. Wow!  

 

Vinny Thomas has been recognized by Vanity Fair, The Hollywood Reporter, USA Today, and Vulture as a comedian to know. After launching his comedy career in Chicago at The Second City, Vinny was named a Characters New Face at the 2021 Just For Laughs Festival. 

In 2023, Vinny was featured as a writer and performer in the CBS Comedy Showcase, and appeared in his first recurring role opposite Seth Rogen in the Apple TV+ series Platonic. He is currently in production on season 2 of the series, and will next be seen in the upcoming Amazon film You’re Cordially Invited in early 2025.  

Vinny is also a frequent panelist on After Midnight on CBS, and a guest writer on NPR’s Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me. 







ABOUT THE HOST

Jason Inman is a writer for CBS's WATSON and a former Showrunner's Assistant on STAR TREK SECTION 31 and THE CODE. After his deployment in Operation Iraqi Freedom, he wrote a novel, crowdfunded six comics, hosted for DC Comics, and worked on Good Mythical Morning for its first four seasons. In 2021, he snagged his third Ringo Award nomination. For the past ten years, Jason has been co-hosting the Geek History Lesson podcast, diving into the fictional worlds of pop culture icons. If you told ten-year-old Jason on his Kansas farm about his future career, he’d think you were telling tall tales!
